Massage restores balance and well-being, releases muscular tension and allows your body to move freely and with greater strength. Regular massage therapy counters the effects of stress, anxiety and fatigue by releasing endorphins and facilitating the flow of vital energy.

Our professional training and many years of experience helps us to make you feel comfortable even if this is your very first massage. We have received training and certification in a rich variety of modalities.

Your Session

One of the unique things about Heartsong is that we begin by assessing through conversation exactly where the client currently is and what they most need.

We then customize the massage incorporating multiple modalities into each session with our sole intent being to meet the client wherever they are in the moment.  For this reason we do not charge extra for things like the application of essential oils or heat/cold therapy.  Most sessions involve a combination of techniques, often including hot stone, triger point release and various forms of energy work.  Not only does our unique, mixed-modality approach offer a far more personalized and comprehensive healing experience – it provides a better result. We hope you agree.

Below you will find a brief explanation of some of our most popular techniques:

Swedish Massage

This is a very popular massage style, named after the Swedish doctor, Per Henrik Ling, who developed it in the early 1700’s.  It is designed to relax muscles and relieve stress using basic gliding strokes that increases the oxygen flow in the blood and releases toxins from the muscles.  It shortens recovery time from muscular strain by flushing the tissues of lactic acid, uric acid, and other metabolic wastes – while gently stretching the ligaments and tendons, keeping them supple and pliable.  It can be very superficial or quite deep depending on the clients request.  Swedish Massage reduces stress, both emotional and physical, and is suggested in a regular program for stress management.

Sports Massage

Sports massage uses techniques that can invigorate the muscles for pre-event performance or can soothe and expedite the rebalance of the muscle after performance exertion.  Sports massage is designed to relax muscles and relieve stress using a variety of strokes and muscle techniques that increases oxygen flow in the blood and releases toxins from the muscles to enhance performance and recovery.

It shortens recovery time from muscular strain by flushing the tissues of lactic acid, uric acid, and other metabolic wastes – while gently stretching the ligaments and tendons, keeping them supple and pliable.  Sports Massage tends to be a more invigorating therapy and often uses  technigues of shaking or tapotement( tapping or rapping the muscle tissue) to loosen the muscle and increase blood flow especially after exertion.

Injury Management

We work with clients to manage both acute and chronic injuries by restoring range of motion, releasing muscle spasms and reducing or eliminating pain.

S.R.T. Therapy

We have studied the work of Taya Countryman and use her techniques to re-program muscles to release chronic states of discomfort and regain function. This is a positional release treatment and works by placing the body in a position that turns off the unfriendly firing of a muscle or muscle group and allows it to regain it’s natural balance.

Acupressure

Acupressure uses the application of careful, slow direct pressure along meridian lines to facilitate healing, restore balance and increase chi-flow.

Myofascial Release

Focuses on the connective tissue and fasical system and helps to increase range of movement as well as pain relief.

Reiki

This ancient modality works on balancing the energy field of the body and increases chi flow.

Deep Tissue

This massage is a more intensive form of Swedish massage that releases chronic patterns of tension in the body through slow strokes and deep finger pressure on contracted areas. Due to the release of toxins during this massage, you may feel some moderate lameness and should drink lots of water to flush your system, making you feel better within 8 hours.

Hot Stone Massage

Hot stones are placed on key energy points on the body, evoking an aura of warmth, while the deep penetrating heat from the stones is used to massage the body, increasing relaxation and circulation, decreasing pain and relieving your muscles – allowing you to feel stress-free.

Pre-Natal Massage

This therapeutic massage focuses on the special needs of the mother-to-be as her body goes through dramatic changes. Benefits of prenatal massage will include relieving headaches and sinus congestion, backaches, leg cramps, swollen ankles and sciatic pain.

Trigger Point

Focuses on very specific areas to free up tissue restriction and break up scar tissue.
